And we're live! New collection, updated website, new shop - phew!

I wanted to send a shoutout to my awesome team who helped me work on this shoot: Ana Alic on coordination and styling, Scarlett O'Neill on photography, Murphy MacDonald-Rea on modelling and Alison Sharp on makeup. This shoot never would have come into being without these talented women. It's been a busy week.

Head on over to the site and check out the new lookbook then score 15% off in the online shop until Monday with code FOLKLORE15.

Have a great weekend! XO

Not Your Grandmother's Macrame

Out of nowhere I suddenly became obsessed with tufty things, weaving, macrame and any sort of odd textural wall hanging. I think it started with Moroccan wedding blankets. A friend asked me to bring one back from Morocco and I didn't care much for them a year ago but they really grew on me with their mixture of metallics, soft cotton and fringe. When I got back I noticed Etsy was featuring quite a few different wall hangings in their promo emails and then bam! suddenly they are appearing all over the net and I want one, bad!  I've featured a few examples above of some of my favourites, I think the weirder and bigger the better. I also love when other elements from nature are incorporated, pieces of driftwood or metal. I'm imagining one above my bed that takes up half the wall with lot's of long cream threads with bits of metallic woven in and bits of driftwood. I am even considering making one myself. I found this tutorial if you want to try your own hand at it:

If you'd like to find the source of any of these images I made this Pinterest board where you can find all of these images and more that link back to their original sources. What do you think about this trend?

Big News!

So I have some exciting news to share: I am heading on a buying trip to Morocco next month! It has been a while since I've taken a big international trip like this so I am beyond excited and honestly, a bit terrified.  I've always wanted to go to Morocco, it has been on my life's to-do list for many many years so the fact that it has come to manifestation is still sinking in. I've decided to really get into it and am taking two weeks to travel around the country from the north down to Marrakech and a few days in the Sahara too (!) Something tells me that kilim textiles are going feature prominently in my Fall offerings, haha - what do you think? :-) I can hardly wait to get deep into those souks. There is nothing like going straight to the source as I am sure there will be some rare and unusual pieces in dusty corners that you just could not find anywhere else. I'm not sure what kind of internet access I will have while there but I will try to post lot's of photos here and via Instagram. (@grace_design)

In other news, the shop will be closing next month but I will be having one giant flash sale next Wednesday May 28th, starting at 9am. All of the pouch's in the shop will be priced at $25 or less and I will likely mark down a bunch of larger bags and clutch's too. Just for a few hours or until they sell out.

And anyone who spends more than $100 will get a handwritten postcard from Marrakech! :)

Enjoy your Wednesday! XO
